Our client is seeking a motivated, experienced, and hard-working General Manager responsible for over-seeing operations for their Full-Service Building and Maintenance Company. This position will hold an important management role for all locations from across the Island, as well as areas in Nova Scotia.

In this role, the General Manager will supervise and coordinate daily activities which include technical guidance to subordinate supervisors, skilled and semi-skilled workers. The successful applicant will ensure the safe and efficient operations of all customer contracted services while organizing staff procedures and scheduling. The General Manager will determine the needs for material and equipment, while contacting various vendors for information regarding availability, prices, and delivery.

General Duties:

  • Reporting to Operational Managers
  • Managing the daily operations of core companies
  • Responsible for management and oversight of 80 employees
  • Organizing and creating annual growth, revenue and sales targets based on the previous operating year
  • Providing hands-on management role throughout all services
  • Managing client contacts and relationships
  • Traveling to various company and client locations where required
  • Overseeing staff working schedules, task delegation and project completion
  • Working in a high-energy. Fast-paced environment
  • Working with a budget to determine revenue and growth forecasts
  • Working within all levels of the business
  • Oversight of ordering stock and product management
  • Assisting with any problems that may arise within the organization
  • Training new employees, where required
  • Dismissing staff if required (following appropriate procedures)
  • Ensuring locations and projects have all necessary operating products, services and equipment
  • Following appropriate policies and procedures throughout daily operations
  • Maintaining a professional work appearance
  • Emphasizing a safe and regulated working environment for all staff members and supporting every role within the company

Requirements for this position:

  • 3-5 years or more experience within a similar role/field, project and people management (80 + staff)
  • Experience working within the labour industry
  • Ability to lead and direct staff throughout daily operations
  • Experience working with a budget
  • Experience working with commercial equipment and supplies
  • Applicable workplace safety practices in compliance with legislation
  • Flexible working hours
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high energy environment
  • Ability to work with online programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and others
  • Experience in management within a similar environment considered a strong asset
  • Related post-secondary education considered a strong asset
  • Certifications, training, or coursework in a related field considered an asset

Work Term & salary:

  • 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM operating hours
  • Full-time hours per week, varies throughout the day
  • Must be available for weekends/nights as necessary
  • Overtime may be required

Salary Range and Benefit Options

  • $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 DOE
  • Health/Dental coverage after probation period
  • RRSP matching optional
