CNC Operator

Our Client:

In The past, the company was well known in the glass industry for performing Commercial and Industrial employment.  In October 2010, they moved to their new 30,000 square foot location in Borden-Carleton, just off the Confederation Bridge.  The new shop has many new pieces of equipment, which allows them to produce many different products, which had only been available from outside of the Atlantic Provinces previously. They manufacture tempered glass, insulated glass units, commercial windows, entrances, and storefront systems.

THE JOB: 

General Responsibilities:

 

  • Reporting to Operational Managers
  • Managing the daily operations of CNC Machine and associated equipment
  • Imputing and computing numerical data, orders and processing operations
  • Creating specified drawings using a CAD Program
  • Providing hands-on oversight of the CNC Machine throughout operations
  • Unloading raw materials
  • Ensuring project completion
  • Working in a high-energy. Fast-paced environment
  • Oversight of ordering stock and product management
  • Assisting with any problems that may arise within the organization
  • Read and interpret Manufacturing Process Sheets (M.P.S.) for proper instructions
  • Follow up with inspectors (and/or machine setup personnel) when corrections or adjustments are required to maintain product quality.
  • Verification of measurement equipment & calibration
  • Visual Inspection
  • Assisting other staff where required
  • Using correct measurement method when assessing the quality requirement of the component
  • Machining of parts accurately and efficiently while respecting quality
  • FOD awareness and prevention
  • Knowledge of cycle times and attention to efficiency.
  • Complete required documentation accurately.
  • Respect health and safety regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as required
  • Other related duties such as deburring, polishing, drilling etc.
  • Assisting other staff where required
  • Training new employees, where required

Requirements for this position:

  • Experience performing machining duties
  • Experience working with heavy equipment and/or materials
  • Experience working with glass manufacturing machines and technologies
  • Red Seal CNC Machinist certification would be strongly considered
    • Training hours and apprenticeship available
  • Experience working within the labour environment
  • Experience working with commercial equipment and supplies
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high energy environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience within a similar environment considered a strong asset
  • Related post-secondary education considered a strong asset
  • Certifications, training, or coursework in a related field considered an asset

 

Physical and Training Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 100 lbs
  • Physically capable of performing job duties
  • Training will be provided in-house

 

Work Term & salary:

  • 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM operating hours, Monday to Friday
  • Full-time hours per week (42.5)

 

Wage Range and Benefit Options

  • $16.00 – $18.00
    • Red Seal Candidate will be considered for a higher pay scale, DEO
  • Health coverage after probation period (3 months)
  • Retirement Plan after 3-month Probation
