Our client is looking for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to join their long-term care team in PEI. Within this organization, the LPN helps to fulfill efficient and professional care requirements of patients throughout daily operations and work alongside other facility staff t. Under the direction of the Director of Care and Nurse Managers, the successful candidate will work within the entire scope of practice. The LPN will be fully accountable for ensuring that the utmost in competent care and safety is consistently delivered to all residents. Requirements for this position would include:
- Graduate of a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing course and current certification in Canada
- Certification approved by the CLPNPEI (available to out-of-province applicants)

- Completed clinical/practicum experience is considered an asset

- If coming from out of Province, or Canada, the successful applicant must be willing to get the necessary certifications approved by the CLPNPEI.
General duties of this position would include:
- Provide bedside care
- Communicate with patients, family members, supervisors, and other staff members
- Perform nursing interventions such as taking vital signs, applying aseptic techniques including sterile dressings, ensuring infection control, monitoring nutritional intake and conducting specimen collection
- Assist with resident comfort
- Prepare and administer injections and/or enemas where required
- Collect samples and/or monitor catheters
- Provide wound care
- Administer up-to-date nursing practices designated within the scope of an LPN
- Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate personnel
- Administer medications and document therapeutic effects when required
Day-to-Day duties of this position would include:
- Assist residents in addressing everyday personal needs such as toileting, bathing and grooming
- Communicate changes to resident’s health, needs and/or living conditions
- Respect the residents’ confidentiality and privacy
- Promote a positive, friendly, safe, and healthy environment for all staff and residents
- Provide client care by utilizing the skills of observation, assessment, nursing diagnosis, counseling and health teaching
- Provide care according to the established care plan ensuring that, on an ongoing basis, the emotional, spiritual, physical comfort and safety of clients are met to the greatest possible extent; care must be within the scope of practice of a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Perform routine nursing duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice as defined by the provincial licensing body
- Perform specialized nursing procedures for which recognized training and current competency can be demonstrated
- Promote healthy living including physical and mental activity, healthy eating and resident engagement
- Observe and document client conditions and changes following proper standards and in accordance with professional standards

- Further/other education or certificates
- Community involvement
- Experience with Alzheimer’s and other related Dementia health statuses is considered an asset

- Valid registration with the relevant licensing body, or in the process of receiving licensing

Job Terms & Salary:
- Full-time, Permanent or Casual options
The successful applicant for this position would be expected to receive up to $24.00-27.60/hour, depending on experience. The successful applicant must be available to work evening and weekends. Casual wage will be higher, depending on experience.
