Location: Prince County, PEI
Our client is seeking a motivated, experienced and hard-working Director of Culinary Operations who will be responsible for over-seeing their professional restaurant, golf resort, catering, and banquet offerings throughout each season. This position will hold an important management role supervising various activities including: menu creation, culinary staff management, event coordination (alongside event managers) and guest relations.
In this role, the successful applicant is expected to possess a strong culinary education, or similar background and experience. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role where the Director will hold an important leadership role within the organization in terms of culinary offerings, services and on the Management Team. The restaurant and catering aspects are an integral part to the successful operations of this organization.
General Duties:
- Reports to Management team
- Managing daily Culinary operations (including bar); nights, weekends where applicable etc.
- Working with and supervising Sous Chef, Kitchen, Serving and Event staff daily
- Execute decision-making for creating & developing menus, recommending recipes
- Creating consistent and quality food product
- Coaching and providing leadership to all the staff; either directly or through the Sous Chef(s)
- Ensuring the training and development of staff
- providing input for performance, appraisals, and disciplinary action where required
- Ensuring consistent food preparation with high-calibre culinary presentation
- Ensuring communication to/with kitchen staff
- Providing hands-on management role throughout all services including Golf Resort coordination
- Maintaining positive customer and guest relations
- Overseeing staff working schedules, task delegation and project completion
- Assisting with recruitment and selection of kitchen employeesWorking with a budget to determine revenue and growth forecasts
- Assisting with any problems that may arise within the organization
- Following appropriate policies and procedures throughout daily operations
- Maintaining a professional work appearance
- Emphasizing a safe and regulated working environment for all staff members and supporting every role within the company
Day-to-Day:
- Running daily operations of the kitchen
- Ensuring consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food presentation
- Carry out related duties, from time to time
- Participating in staff meetings and develop an appropriate agenda
- Oversight of ordering inventory for kitchen operations etc.

Requirements for this position:
- Culinary education background (recognized institution preferred)
- Red Seal certification is considered a strong asset
- Kitchen, food, and beverage management background
- 3-4 years experience in event management
- Experience in menu creation and innovation
- Experience with professional customer service relations
- Experience within a similar organization is considered a strong asset
- Leadership within a similar field is considered a strong asset
- Related post-secondary education would be considered a strong asset
- Flexible working hours
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high energy environment
Work Term & Salary:
- Full-time, Permanent (Variable hours)
- Aligned with kitchen and event schedules
- Must be available for weekends/nights as necessary
- $65,000-$75,000 DOE
